Tucson Chapter

Training

The Tucson Chapter places a very high importance on the training required to become a successful AMIGO.  Each volunteer makes a strong commitment to become prepared for their upcoming summer experience.

Besides ongoing fundraising activities, they attend a 3-hour training session every Monday night from January - May in preparation for their summer experience.  In addition there are numerous weekend retreats (approximately 1 per month).  These training sessions focus on:

  • AMIGOS Standard of Conduct
  • Project Specific information
  • Youth Leadership
  • Construction Skills
  • Sustained Community Development
  • Language
  • Health and Safety
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Teambuilding
